Not off to a good start...

So, as I headed off of Cape Cod and the cool breeze was feeling great on my face...music filled my helmet and the ride was going well.

Things can change. And they just did. It has only been 35 miles since I filled up with gas in Falmouth, MA and the motor started was becoming increasingly louder as the miles passed by. Finally, the noise became a very distinct and familiar sound to my ears.

The left head gasket blew!
I am about 1/4 of a mile from an overpass and the rain is starting in tiny droplets.

Are we having fun? Heck yes!

I am going to pull the left sparkplug wire and crank Mozi up so she and I can creep, gently to the overpass for shelter.

Did I mention that I did bring a spare head gasket and gasket sealer? I have socket wrenches and extentions, an assortment of pliers, end wrenches and screwdrivers...

I didn't think I really needed to pack the turque wrench. Duh! That one tool would be so wonderful to have at this moment.

Oh well, I will attempt to replace the head gasket and torque the bolts with a standard ratchet, basing the torque on the resistance of the head bolt on the right cylinder.

Stay tuned!!!

It is now 5:11PM and the task will begin as soon as the motor cools down.
