Crossing Vineyard Sound

The 2:30 ferry departed Vineyard Haven on time and as we headed out across the 8-12 miles (depending on who you ask), the tall ship Shenandoah is anchored on our port side and you can see people jumping from the rope ladders on the sides of the ship and plunging into the brisk New England waters. It honestly looks like fun, but I have done the same swim from this ship 15 years ago and the water never seemed warm enough for me.

Just another reason why I am headed to Florida and the more temperate seashores.

The current seawater temperature here is 60.3F.

The air temp is 75F.

It is now 3:00PM.
