There are recent postings of past dates.

In the daily process of writing and editing for a complete story near the end of this journey, I realize I must update this blog. The ramblings and rants of a construction worker on the open highways have to be organized and publicized.

Right?

Therefore, I have recently posted for the following dates:
September 17, 2010
October 23, 2010
October 24 , 2010

Check back for more updates to previous dates.

Today's plans:

How do you feel about an interview with homeless people who are camping out in downtown Monterey, CA?

I am pretty excited about it!

I will Mozi down to Cannery Row and make conversation with the men I have seen sleeping on dirt, right across from some of the most exclusive shops in this famed boulevard from a John Steinbeck novel. The contrast of grit and grime, Versage and Tiffany provide an almost perfect setting for my camera to capture a moment in a stranger's life. Half-smoked cigarette butts are seen thrown down onto the sidewalks by the well to do in the light of day, only to be gathered up in the early morning hours by men and women living on the seedy side of Cannery Row.

Finger tips stained with tobacco, breath that wreaks of cheap port, abandoned french fries and wild blackberries growing along the seawall, these people are the wretched refuse of America, but have hearts of gold. Hosting smiles of well worn teeth at the mention of a cup of coffee and a new cigarette from a pack I will buy for sharing. I don't smoke, nor do I advise it to anyone, but facing the facts, these people enjoy inhaling burning, dried leaves harvested by the lucky ones, migrant workers and sharecrop owners earning minimum wages, in the best-case scenerio, in the Carolinas and Virginia.

In my offerings to them, I bring peace. Their freedom is to be explored, discussed and documented to be shared on this blog in the near future. Film@11?

Mozi on...
