I couldn't stay awake enough to continue on my journey home last night. It had been a brutal day on the road. At 3:30AM, I saw a Motel 6 and found myself ready to settle for anything at this point.
Little did I know...
The room was truly a non-smoking room. The sheets were clean and pillows were fluffy.
Off to sleep and it was a very restful sleep, indeed!
I woke up to my alarm at 6:30 to once more brave the traffic in Washington D.C. On this beautiful Thursday morning.
But first, a well-deserved shower. As the water became warm enough to begin, I did. I soaped uo as quick as possible to sort of set the pace for the remaining miles.
The water temperature continued to rise and I kept adjusting the mixing valve to maintain the optimum level of comfort, somewhere around 102 degrees.
No matter how many times I adjusted the valve, the temperature continued to rise until I finally shut the shower off completely.
There I was, standing on the bathmat, adjusting the valve slowly in both directions in hopes of discovering a backwards operating mixer or anything at all to cause nothing less than scalding water to flow from the shower head. Nothing!
I turned on the sink faucet and found the same scalding water in all positions of that mixer as well.
I was covered with soap suds and this was not like I was out of hot water and would have to grit my teeth and rinse off under cold water. No no, that would be too easy.
Desperate measures were ahead. I discovered that it is possible to rinse a 189 lb human body with two 12 ounce bottles of Grape flavored Aquafina water which I have been storing in my packback since Wednesday morning.
"Stop laughing! This might seem funny to you, but I am the guy sitting in Mickey-D's eating an Egg McMuffin and smelling like a fruit roll up!"
After I toweled off, it wasn't sticky at all. In fact, I feel pretty clean a fresh as a grape!!!
