Arriving back in New England last night marked the end of a very long journey for me a Mozi. The Florida shake-down ride proved to be everything I hoped for and then some.
Spending Father's Day with my daughters, dad and the entire family was wonderful! Like most trips and vacations, there are three major parts which each play a vital role in the outcome of the experience.
Part one:
Preparing myself and Mozi for the 1240 mile trip from Martha's Vineyard Island, MA to Palm Valley, FL took a great deal of planning, mapping, doubts and fears.
Most of all, knowing that I have no idea what might happen on the road south added to the excitement of my quest.
Part one includes the planning as well as the trip southward. In the first thirty five miles, I was able to blow a head gasket on I-195, replace it and get back on the road in less than one hour. As I was on the shoulder of the road and the rain began to fall, I wondered if this trip was a mistake. Perhaps, it was a bad plan. This was a sign. A place to turn around and high-tail it back home, where I belong.
But, this trip was somehow going to help me find exactly where I do belong. I had to keep going. The head gasket was temporary. Actually, I have recently started believing that all things in life, including life itself, is temporary. The important thing is dealing with obstacles as a way of healing.
I changed the headgasket and continued for hundreds of miles before finally collapsing in a hotel the following evening. Twenty eight hours since I cranked Mozi up and thirty six hours since I woke up on the day of departure seemed like an eternity.
To be continued...
